Flat Themes for Xperia Devices Make the Wait for Lollipop More Bearable

For many Sony fans, there was little to write home about from this past week’s Mobile World Congress, aside from maybe the stunning Xperia Z4 Tablet, of course. One of the highlights for some was the fact that Sony was showing off their version of Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z4 Tablet. We were lucky enough to go hands-on with their new software, but that doesn’t mean the update is here just yet. Instead, Xperia Z owners are still patiently waiting. A set of themes from XDA Member MixaDJ might just make the wait a little more bearable though.

As Xperia-Blog note, the Flat Theme set by MixaDJ has been updated recently with the new style of onscreen buttons for Sony’s take on Lollipop and some more Material Design elements. These are some great-looking themes, and I’ve been trying them out on my Xperia Z2. These are all about offering a flat look and feel on Xperia Z devices and they sure look the part. There are a number of different colors to choose from as well, including Black, Blue, Deep Purple, Green, Red and Teal. I’ve settled on the Flat Blue theme, but Flat Teal might be the closest you’re going to get to a stock Lollipop look and feel, short of installing a CyanogenMod 12 Nightly, of course.

All of the themes and their respective downloads can be found at the source link below, and I’ve included some screenshots from my Xperia Z2 of the Flat Blue theme in action. These are free to download, and while they don’t come from the Google Play Store like many other themes, they are built using the Xperia Theme engine and they don’t need any further tweaking on the user’s part; just download, install and apply in the Personalization menu! There’s no need to be rooted to take advantage of these themes. Take a look at the gallery below and let us know your thoughts.
