Hands-On With the Xperia M4 Aqua at MWC '15

While this hasn’t been the most exciting of Mobile World Congresses for Sony, that doesn’t mean they didn’t have anything to show off. In fact, they had a fantastic new tablet to show off, in the form of the Xperia Z4 Tablet and a mid-range device in the form of the Xperia M4 Aqua. Both of which are an evolution of the Xperia Z3 series that debuted during IFA 2014 last Fall in Berlin. We’re roaming the show floor right now, and we’ve been fortunate enough to take a look at some of Sony’s new devices for 2015. We just took a look at the Xperia Z4 Tablet, and now we’re taking a look at the Xperia M4 Aqua.

In case you missed the news on Sony’s latest mid-ranger, you can catch up here, but the key things here are a Snapdragon 615 octa-core CPU as well as 2GB of RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard from launch. There’s a 13-megapixel camera around the back and there’s a 5-inch 720p display upfront. For a device that costs just €299 when it goes on sale later this year, these are some pretty decent specs and it represents some decent value for money.

Taking a look at the Xperia M4 Aqua in person, it looks and feels very much like any other Xperia device, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who you ask. On the one hand, it’s sad to see that Sony is continuing to recycle their tired design language, but on the other hand, it offers those that can’t afford the Xperia Z3 a similar experience and look without the associated price tag. Either way, this is a pretty decent device from Sony, and you can take a closer look in the gallery below, and don’t forget to take a look at the rest of our coverage from MWC 2015.
