Hands-On With ZTE's Nubia Z7 Max and Mini at MWC '15

Last summer, ZTE unveiled some new Nubia devices, dubbed the Z7, the Z7 Max and the Z7 Mini. Confusingly, you’d think that the the Z7 Max is the best of the bunch, but that’s left to the Nubia Z7, with its 2K display. Instead, the Z7 Mini and Z7 Max are less expensive, while also offering some of the same sort of DNA that ZTE customers are looking for. We’ve been lucky enough to get hands-on with ZTE’s Nubia Z7 earlier today during Mobile World Congress, and now we’re taking a look at the more affordable Z7 Mini and Z7 Max.

As their name suggests, they’re essentially variants of the Z7, with the Z7 mini coming in at 5-inches with a 720p display and a Snapdragon 801 with 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera. Those key specs transfer across to the Z7 Max, but this time around we’re looking at a 5.5-inch 1080p display. More devices for those looking for something smart and good-looking without having to purchase a device that’s too big or too small. These two represent the ‘choice’ portion of ZTE’s Nubia lineup and both devices are put together with the same attention to detail and quality control of other Nubia devices; which is to say they’re basically premium ZTE devices. These aren’t new devices, but we thought it best to take a look and see what all the fuss was about, and we’re pretty impressed considering their price tags.

We only got chance to play around with the Z7 Mini and Z7 Max in white, which is a shame as there are many colors on offer when choosing the 5-inch Nubia Z7 Mini. Either way, these are some attractive devices and you can take a closer look at both the Nubia Z7 Mini and the Nubia Z7 Max in the gallery below, and don’t forget to check out the rest of our MWC ’15 coverage.
