The HTC One M9 will open up for pre-orders to interested customers starting at midnight tonight, that is unless you’re a subscriber of Verizon Wireless. Just like with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Verizon is starting pre-orders for the HTC One M9 beginning April 1st, a mere 9 days before the phone officially launches in stores. That puts Verizon customers nearly a week behind everyone else when it comes to actually paying for the phone, but better late than never, and customers will still likely get the device shipped out and have it arrive either on launch day or just before like some of the other carriers.
As for the actual launch date, if you haven’t already guessed, April 10th will be the day so there’s no difference there. When April 1st comes around those who subscribe to Verizon Wireless service will be able to pay for the HTC One M9 in a few different ways. There will be a contracted option for those who like to stay with phone discounts and don’t mind the agreements, which will be $199 with the activation or renewal of a 2 year-contract. Consumers can also grab the phone with the Verizon Wireless Edge plan which will allow the phone broken up over the monthly bill in 24 payments at $24.99 each, although no mention of what the down payment would be.
Customers may also be able to just buy the HTC One M9 outright at full cost which should be about $649.99, and if that’s the case then the down payment for Edge customers is likely right around $50 upfront. Since HTC is only offering a 32GB model there is no additional pricing to worry about with a model that carries larger storage, however, there will be 128GB of expandable storage through the microSD card slot. Verizon will be carrying the device in two colors, the gold and silver, and the gunmetal gray. One interesting thing of note, is that the Verizon model HTC One M9 states it will support up to a 200GB microSD card, yet HTC stated earlier in a press release that it will support up to a 2TB microSD card, so it seems Verizon has modified the expandable storage support.
