When a new flagship that’s as big as Samsung’s yearly entries in the Galaxy S series are on the cusp of launching, US carriers go into a frenzy to try and get as many pre-orders of the device as possible. Samsung has been asked to deliver as many as 20 million Galaxy S6 units worldwide, including both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models. These numbers are slated to be shipped to carriers worldwide, and there’s no doubt that US carriers will have a huge hand to play in all of this as well. We’ve already seen T-Mobile announce their pre-order campaign will be kicking off tomorrow, Friday March 27th, and AT&T will be following suit on the same day as well.
Now we’re getting the official confirmation via Verizon’s Twitter account stating that they’re going to wait just a few extra days to open pre-orders up. Next Wednesday, April 1st, is the day you’ve been waiting for if you’re looking to pick up Samsung’s latest hot pair of phones. Both models are scheduled to debut on April 10th, although we don’t have 100 percent confirmation that Verizon’s branded Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be dropping the same day as everyone else’s just yet. It’s sort of ironic that Verizon chose April 1st to start pre-orders given that many Samsung faithful thought it was April Fools Day when Samsung announced there would be no SD card support or removable battery in the upcoming flagship, breaking with the tradition that Samsung has had for 5 generations of Galaxy S devices now.
Regardless of that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are two phones looking to best everything this Spring and likely well into the fall when the next big smartphone refresh cycle comes around. Samsung has sidestepped all the drama following the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset by including their own in all models that ship around the world. This gives Samsung more control over components and keeps them from being reliant on other suppliers to do a good job. This coupled with the incredibly beautiful build quality that the S6 features and the amazing screen both models have and you’ve truly got a winner. It’ll cost a pretty penny, but this may just be the best phone money can buy when it makes its debut in a few weeks.
