Here’s yet another podcast catcher, that you can listen to the Android Headlines Show on, in your car. Last week, Google finally made Android Auto available to everyone. They pushed the app into the Play Store and also Pioneer started selling their head units that have Android Auto included. A slew of Android apps already feature Android Auto compatibility, but today, BeyondPod joins that growing list. A list that includes the likes of Stitcher, WhatsApp, Pocket Casts, Kik and many others. The latest beta for BeyondPod includes Android Auto integration, as well as a few other goodies that BeyondPod users are going to love.
According to BeyondPod’s changelog on their site, they have enabled Android Auto functionality, so you’ll just need one of Pioneer’s head units or to buy a car that has it built in already. Like one of Hyundai’s Sonata’s. As well as the ability for BeyondPod to detect changes to feeds that have changed their images. They’ve also added a new option to automatically delete all played episodes during the next update. Currently, this option is off by default. But can be enabled in BeyondPod’s Advanced Settings > Automatically Delete Played Episodes. BeyondPod also added better Android 5.1 support and fixed many other bugs that have not been mentioned.
For those of you interested in checking out the beta, BeyondPod has the APK available for you to download on their site. Or if you’d rather use the Google Play Store’s beta program, you can join BeyondPod’s Beta group on Google+ and then opt in to the beta. The beta should be hitting the stable channel in a few days if everything goes well for BeyondPod’s beta testers. So if you don’t want to beta test, you shouldn’t be waiting too long.
So now you can listen to the best Android podcast around in your car. Of course I’m talking about The Android Headlines Show, which we record each and every Thursday evening, and is available for your Friday morning commute!
