Oppo R7 Ultra-Thin Smartphone to Be Released Later This Year

Oppo, a global electronics and technology company based in China is gearing up for another smartphone release later this year. Approval licenses granted by the telecom authorities of Indonesia were granted to a device from OPPO referred to as the “Oppo R7f.” Given this information it would appear the company is hard at work to release the successor to last year’s Oppo R5. Based off reported specifications of the device, this new phone will be targeting the high end flag ship market segment of 2015.

The Oppo R7 flagship device is really setting the bar with sources stating the device will be one of the first handsets to ship with one of MediaTek’s newest processors. The reported flagship device will be powered by the 64-bit MT6795 which sports a beastly eight processing cores capable of running at speeds up to 2.2 GHz. The processor is also capable of outputting video to screens at resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels. The body of the smartphone will measure in at an ultra-thin 4.85 mm thick implying the battery may be a tad bit smaller to compensate for the lack of space. Given this information, it may be desired by some that the phone would instead ship displaying a more modest 1080p resolution. While the higher screen resolution is a sizeable upgrade in screen clarity, battery life may be more important here even if the processor is capable of 2560 x 1600. Lastly, information from sources list the Oppo R7 including a very high end camera capable of shooting pictures at 20.7 megapixels.

With such high end specifications this new phone to come from Oppo later this year will certainly deserve greater attention upon release. While last year’s Oppo R5 smartphone shipped with high end internals as well, reviews did criticize two aspects of the previous handset. With a 2000 mAh battery usage times were anything but stellar, and the lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack due to size constraints was a deal breaker for some. Our sights will certainly be set on the high end, Oppo R7 upon its release later this year to see what other design changes the company may have made.
