There is no doubt that the OnePlus One sold great last year and that the story behind it is nothing short of a miracle. OnePlus took a big bet with virtually no typical marketing strategies and no big sum of money to put behind the marketing they did do. Even more outrageous was the idea behind the OnePlus One itself as well as its pricepoint. It was a device with specs to match the flagship phones of the time, at half the price. Now, OnePlus is at it again with the successor to the OnePlus One right around the corner and the rumors flying. Successor
Let’s take a ride through rumorville for a bit and talk about some of the supposed specs and features that the successor to the OnePlus One will possess. First off, and most notable, is something called a ‘laser focus fingerprint identification system’ that the OnePlus One will apparently contain. This is a new type of fingerprint reader that will supposedly be built-in to the new phone’s home button for easy unlocking. Then we have something not so surprising but at the same time, is very good news. Powering the OnePlus One will supposedly be a Snapdragon 810 processor, the fastest Snapdragon chip currently on the market. You will find this same chip in new high-end smartphones, such as the HTC One M9 and LG G Flex 2.
Then we move on to the look of this new device. We actually have a pretty good idea of how this new device will look from many rumors currently floating around the internet. These rumors state that the successor to the OnePlus One will resemble the Oppo Find 7 in appearance, something that is not very difficult to believe. This is due to the fact that a majority of OnePlus’ executives are originally from Oppo. Rumors about this device’s appearance also say that it will have a smaller display and be made from metal. Then we have the most promising tidbit about the new device’s appearance, the OnePlus One founder has gone on record saying that its appearance will “surprise people.” This is something that is good to hear and hopefully comes to fruition.
Whatever OnePlus has got going on is more than likely going to be exciting. The company just needs to get their manufacturing issues resolved so that they do not need to resort to the same invite system they used for the original OnePlus One. If they can do this, they have the potential to move a lot of devices.
