If you or someone you know has the need for an app that tests your device’s graphical performance, Rightware has just released their Basemark ES 3.1 app to run your device through the visual ringer. The application is available in both free and paid versions, and is aimed at testing the graphics performance of devices running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and up. You read that correctly, the compatibility is limited to smartphones and tablets that are running Android 5.0 Lollipop and above only. If you’re not on one of those devices with a compatible software version, not to worry, there is more than just Basemark ES 3.1 to test your device’s graphics performance.
Rightware’s Basemark ES 3.1 is a professional graphics benchmark app that is designed to test the graphics performance of smartphones and tablets that support OpenGL ES 3.1. The test is set up with extremely complex graphics renders that will determine how powerful your device is, or how powerful a device is that you may be interested in. While this is a great application for any individuals who love games and want to see which devices provide the best graphical performance, it can be a great tool for developers as well who wish to push graphics to the limit for devices they may be looking to target with a game they have in development.
Basemark ES 3.1 tests things like lighting, SSAO, particles, water simulation, bloom effects, and post-processing effects such as depth of field, anti-aliasing and fog. While the free version may be just fine for most everyday users who are interested in graphics performance, the paid version does have some differences. It features the FPS(frames per second) data on the UI, as well as configurations on UI, and HTML output of the results data file, all things the free version does not contain. Those features may not be important to you and if so then the free version will do just fine and have everything else you need. For anyone who wants to pick up the paid version, it’s live in the Play Store now and will cost you $5.43.
