The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona has come to an end. We’ve seen a lot of great tech showcased in Barcelona this year, and ZTE had something to show us as well. The company has launched their Grand S3 handset which sports EyeVerify’s EvePrint ID biometric retina scanner. Other than that, the company has also showcased some of its previously-released devices, like their flagship Nubia Z7 handset. We managed to get a lot of hands-ons with ZTE’s devices at the show this year, so make sure to check that out.
Another interesting ZTE-related thing happened in Barcelona this year, a mysterious unreleased ZTE device has popped up online, and was photographed at MWC. Many reports are saying that this is the upcoming Nubia Z9 handset which will launch in the next couple of months. The pictured handset resembles the recently-leaked screenshots from the company’s alleged promo video, so this might even be the real thing. As a reminder, the ZTE Nubia Z7 was launched back in July 2014, so the Nubia Z9 might launch mid-year as well, though nothing is confirmed yet.
Anyhow, a new report came our way saying that the Nubia Z9 might come in three versions. The report says that ZTE will announce the Nubia Z9, Nubia Z9 Mini and Nubia Z9 Max. This actually makes a lot of sense because the Nubia Z7 came in three versions as well. That’s not all though, this report also contains a leaked image, which allegedly shows Nubia Z9’s SIM and SD card trays, along with the camera on the back of the device.. As you can see, the device sports a metal trim around once again.
You can expect this device to sport a metal body, and glass on the back, at least according to the leaks we’ve seen thus far. Considering that the Nubia Z7 features a QuadHD (2560 x 1440) display on the front and 3GB of RAM, this device will quite probably sport the very same panel, and perhaps even 4GB of RAM on the inside. You can expect a rather big display, most probably a 5.5-inch panel, and 4G LTE connectivity will be a part of the package as well. Android 5.0 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this device with ZTE’s custom skin on top of Google’s operating system.
