Are Samsung's Newest Flagships Suffering From Display Issues?

As you all know by now, Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona has come to an end. We’ve seen a lot of great gadgets being showcased at the show, including Samsung’s new flagship devices. This Korean tech giant has unveiled the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets at their Unpacked event as part of MWC. Samsung decided to approach the design differently this time around, these two handsets are the first metal unibody smartphones that Samsung has ever made. The Galaxy S6 is more of a regular device (as far as the general shape / design goes), while the Galaxy S6 Edge is a somewhat different approach. This device sports curved display on both its left and right side, which makes it look odd, but kind of cool at the same time.

That being said, it was just a matter of time before we hear some reports regarding issues with these devices. Keep in mind that these are probably pre-production models of Samsung’s devices, so everything you read about here could be fixed before the company starts shipping the devices, besides, these could be isolated issues. Anyhow, let’s get to the point, shall we. Korean news portal, Asia Today, published something rather interesting recently regarding the two aforementioned devices. This Korean publication talked about the display issues on both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

According to the source, these two devices have issues registering touch inputs near the bezels. There is a video embedded down below, where scribbling is tested near the bezels, there is also an image above the article which shows the two devices being tested (for comparison’s sake, LG and Pantech device are located down below). Anyhow, it seems like the Galaxy S6 has more issues registering inputs it sees. This seems to be a hardware problem according to the source, so a software update wouldn’t be of much use in this particular scenario. Once again, keep in mind that these might be pre-production units Asia Today is talking about here, and Samsung might resolve all issues by the time Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are shipped to consumers.
