There are lots of changes in Android lollipop, including the way we interact with notifications and volumes. Now in Android 5.1, Google has introduced a small but fantastic change to the stock clock application, which allows users to modify the volume for alarms from within the clock app. It seems like something rather small, but it can be just as equally huge for anyone who uses alarms as part of a daily routine, and it becomes infinitely more useful for anyone who uses the clock app quite often. It also just makes sense, as alarms are set with the clock so why not give users the ability to set alarm volumes from within an app that sets alarms.
Adjusting the alarm volume is simple and there’s really nothing to it other than opening the clock app and hitting the volume rocker buttons on your device, wherever they may be. Any other place on the phone the volume rockers will still alter the default volume for the ringer and notifications, unless of course media is playing or you’re in a game, in which case the volume rocker alters the volume for the media. Users can also still adjust the volume for alarms from within the volume settings menu, which is located inside of the device settings menu, where users can also change the volumes for media.
This is just one more tweak that Google seems to have added in Android 5.1 Lollipop that revolves around volume and notifications, as they also made it possible for the LED notification light to blink in all interruptions modes, including when users have interruptions set to none. It seems Google wants to give users more control over the volume and notification settings in this latest software version update, and there are likely other small changes that have yet to be noticed. While some users are still waiting for the over-the-air updates to come to their device, Google is still in the process of uploading the Nexus factory images for users to download and flash if they have a compatible device and want Android 5.1 Lollipop as soon as they can get it.
