Ever since Google announced the arrival of Android 5.1 Lollipop, there have been three devices so far that have seen the factory images dropped, allowing users who are familiar with the process to flash the factory images and update to the latest version of the Android software as opposed to waiting for the update to hit devices over-the-air. Starting today, OTA download links began popping up for for the Nexus devices that already have the Android 5.1 Lollipop factory images available from Google, beginning with the Nexus 5, and just a short time ago the 2012 WiFi only model of the Nexus 7 tablet.
Now, Google’s Nexus 10 tablet and the last of the three devices so far to receive factory images for the newest version of Lollipop, has an OTA download available as well. We expect Google to push more factory images for the remaining Nexus devices that will be compatible with the Android 5.1 Lollipop software upgrade in the coming days and week, and shortly after we’ll likely begin to see the OTA download links appear for those devices as well. If you own a Nexus 10 still and don’t want to wait for the OTA download for the software to hit your device in its own time, you can skip that whole process and download the OTA from the link below and then sideload the OTA. If you’re not too familiar with the sideloading process for the OTA downloads then not to worry, as we have provided a handy little guide on how to navigate through the process. It isn’t too difficult so long as follow things step by step, but be sure to read up a little bit about the process for your device to make sure there are no specifics for that device in particular.
