Xiaomi's 5th Anniversary Event Brings Pink Mi Note, 55" Mi TV 2, Redmi 2A, Smart Scale and More

Xiaomi was founded back on April 6th 2010, which means that this China-based company will turn 5 years old soon. It is really staggering how fast this company managed to develop. Xiaomi is currently the number 1 smartphone manufacturer in China, and third globally. Keep in mind that this Chinese company is currently selling their devices in Asia only, they’re available outside of it only via resellers. It will be really interesting to see if they can adapt to other markets. Either way, this will be an exciting year for Xiaomi considering they’re expanding to other markets and are aiming to sell 100 million devices by the end of the year.

That being said, Xiaomi has announced a bunch of new products as part of their anniversary event today, after releasing a ton of teasers over the last couple of days. The first device that Xiaomi showcased, is the Pink version of the Xiaomi Mi Note, officially called Mi Note Pink Edition. There’s nothing that new here, only the color is different this time around. The company is definitely trying to appeal to women by releasing this device, which is obvious from their recent teaser and the presentation itself. This handset will cost 2,499 Yuan ($403) in China, and Xiaomi will give you a 5,000mAh power bank along with it for free.

The second device Xiaomi decided to announce today, is the affordable Leadcore-powered smartphone that has been talked about quite often lately. This device is called the Redmi 2A, and it’s basically the lite version of the Redmi 2 they announced back in January. The Redmi 2A is powered by Leadcore’s LC1860C quad-core processor (Cortex A7) which is clocked at 1.5GHz along with Mali T628MP2 GPU for graphics. Other specs are more or less the same that you can find in the Redmi 2. This handset is equipped with 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of storage, while it also offers 4G LTE connectivity, and it also has two SIM slots. 4.7-inch 72op IPS display is located on the front, and the device will ship with a 2,200mAh battery. This handset is priced at 599 Yuan, which is a 100 Yuan cheaper than the original Snapdragon 410-powered Redmi 2 (1GB version of that phone that is, 2GB one is more expensive). So, as you can see, the price of this device is somewhat higher than the rumors have been saying.

That’s it as far as smartphones go. Next in line is Xiaomi’s Mi Smart Scale, a device that has been teased recently as well. This smart scale is equipped with LED lights which will indicate the weight, and you can connect it to your smartphone. The Mi Smart Scale can track weight in range between 5 and 150kg and show weight in kg and lbs. It tracks weight + BMI with Mi Fit app. The Mi Smart Scale is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 and is compatible with both Android and iOS. How much does it cost? Well, this smart scale is priced at 99 Yuan ($16), which is really not that expensive, quite on the contrary. We’re used to seeing such aggressive pricing by Xiaomi though.

Xiaomi has announced the Smart Socket as well as part of this event. Cables can be a real hassle these days, and Xiaomi has announced this smart socket which is as big as a pencil box, which means it’s really portable. It sports 3 USB charging ports and supports fast charge. It also has three groups of international jacks and it’s really light. Childproof internal shutter mechanism is also included here, same goes for a surge-protected USB ports. This thing will cost only 49 Yuan ($8) according to the company, which is not bad considering the amount of different jacks in this thing and the fast charge capability.

The 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Mi TV 2 has also been announced by the company. Xiaomi has announced a 40-inch panel quite recently actually, and people were wondering when will the bigger unit arrive. This smart TV sports Samsung’s RGB LCD 4K panel and is powered by MStar 6A928 processor (quad-core Cortex A17 clocked at 1.4GHz). Mali T760MP4 GPU is in charge of graphics here (4+2 GPU) and 2GB of DDR3 RAM ships with this device as well. This thing also has 8GB of internal storage (eMMC 5.0 flash) and a wireless 8-speaker soundbar (all-new aluminum subwoofer). Dolby MS12 virtual surround sound is also a part of the package. Xiaomi’s newest 55-inch Ultra HD LED smart TV is priced at 4,999 Yuan ($806).

And last, but not least, the 2GB version of Xiaomi Mi 4 has also been showcased by the company. This device has been talked a lot about recently, and the company has finally unveiled it. This handset looks the same as the Mi 4, the specifications are also the same, except for the fact this device comes with 2GB of RAM, compared to 3GB in the original. The device is priced at 1,699 Yuan ($274) and is going to be available during Mi Fan Festival. The company has also discounted the original Mi 4, which is now available in China for 1,799 Yuan ($290).

Xiaomi had lots to show us today, and has also announced the Mi Fan Festival which will be held on April 8. So mark the date in your calendar, we have a feeling all of these devices will become available on said date, or at least the majority of them.
