Xiaomi is the number one smartphone manufacturer in China, which actually manufactures all sorts of tech gadgets, smartphones are just a part of the big picture. The company also manufactures smart wearables, tablets, smart TVs, and they even have their own Android-based skin. Xiaomi Mi Pad is the company’s tablet offering, and is now one year old, the company has announced this tablet back in March 2014. Earlier this month, Xiaomi has announced the Mi Pad for the Indian market, and this tablet is now available for purchase exclusively from Flipkart in India.
The Xiaomi MiPad tablet comes sporting a 7.9-inch (2048 x 1536, 326 PPI) IPS panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of the display itself. NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 quad-core processor powers on this tablet, and is clocked at 2.2GHz. This SoC ships with a 192-core Kepler GPU for graphics. This handset ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). 8-megapixel camera (Sony BSI stacked sensor, f/2.0 aperture) is located on the back of this tablet, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper located up front (f/2.0 aperture). 6,700mAh battery comes built-in here, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it. The MiPad measures 202 x 135.4 x 8.5mm and weighs 360 grams. As far as connectivity goes, this tablet comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac Dual Band (2—2 MIMO), and Bluetooth 4.0 is also a part of the package here.
The Mi Pad is available in White color only exclusively from Flipkart for Rs. 12,999 ($209). This tablet is available for open purchase from Flipkart, no flash sale registrations or anything of the sort are needed here. This Chinese company has been announcing a lot of devices for the Indian market recently, and according to latest reports, Xiaomi will also start manufacturing their devices in that Asian country in Q3 or Q4 this year. It remains to be seen how accurate that information is, until then, you can always buy their smartphones and tablet via resellers. As far as Xiaomi-branded accessories go, the company is selling those through their official India website.
