Xiaomi MiPad Is Now Official In India; Available At The End Of This Month For Rs. 12,999 ($208)

Xiaomi has teased the launch of new devices for Indian market a couple of days ago. The company’s puzzle teaser revealed some interesting words which hinted at the launches of the Redmi 2 handset, and the company’s MiPad tablet. That’s exactly what happened at Xiaomi’s event in India today, both the Redmi 2 and MiPad were launched, or should I say re-launched for the Indian market. The Xiaomi MiPad was originally announced back in March 2014 in China, and is available since June last year. We’ve already covered the announcement of the Redmi 2, we’re here to take a look at the company’s tablet, let’s check out its specs.

The Xiaomi MiPad features a 7.9-inch (2048 x 1536, 326 ppi) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. This handset ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). This tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz which comes with a 192-core Kepler GPU for graphics. 8-megapixel camera (Sony BSI stacked sensor, f/2.0 aperture) is located on the back of this tablet, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper located up front (f/2.0 aperture). 6,700mAh battery is also a part of the package here, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it. The MiPad measures 202 x 135.4 x 8.5mm and weighs 360 grams. As far as connectivity goes, this tablet comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac Dual Band (2×2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 4.0.

The MiPad comes in White color only and is priced at Rs. 12,999 ($208). This tablet will be available through Flipkart starting from March 24th, and unlike the Redmi 2 flash sale, you don’t need to register in order to buy this thing. As you can see, the MiPad packs really solid specs, especially considering the price point here. It will be interesting to see if it will sell well in India or not. Anyhow, let us know if you intend to purchase this thing, and what you think of this tablet in general, we’d love to hear from you, as always.
