Despite an April 10 launch date that Samsung has stated, several carriers around the world have shipped the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge early. Now rumors are circulating that AT&T has now become another carrier to do so. If accurate, they would join T-Mobile and Sprint in the U.S that are shipping the pre-ordered devices early. T-Mobile customers are already receiving the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge at their homes, much to their delight.
Perhaps the fleet of aircraft that Samsung was said to have chartered, all Boeing 747’s, for the purpose of fulfilling orders, are having a quick turnaround time between distribution centers, and its factories. There are 20 countries included in the April 10th launch date. According to previous reports, it is predicted that pre-orders will reach almost 20 million units. Reports from analysts also have suggested that Samsung has tripled their production due to very high demand. So if rumors are confirmed then that increased productivity could explain recent events. In one particular case, according to a source their device was in Fort Worth, Texas when they checked with AT&T. Samsung does have a facility there, so that might mean the device is sitting at a distribution center, however, so does FedEx. Sources also indicated that if this proves to be fact that the first AT&T Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones should be arriving on Tuesday. Samsung may presumably take similar steps for other markets with large amounts of pre-orders as well. Other manufacturers, such as Apple, have done this in the recent past.
If you haven’t seen the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge yet in the U.S, remember that most retail stores should have two units inside so you can get a hands-on experience. Although Verizon has decided to stay with April 10th, Sprint is reporting a shipping date of April 6th. The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge will be released in stores on April 10 for the customers who have either elected to pick their phones up in person or for those who didn’t order online.
