Gionee Elife S7 Launches In India For Rs. 24,999 ($402); Elife E8 To Arrive In June

Gionee Elife S7 was officially announced last month during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. We’re looking at a really capable mid-range handset, and the company has said that it will launch sometime in April while announcing it. The latest available rumors were saying that the handset will launch in India in early April, and that has happened. This China-based company has announced the Elife S7 for the Indian market. The handset comes in Black, White and Blue color options and is priced at Rs. 24,999 ($402) in India.

“The S5.5 & S5.1 witnessed huge acceptance amongst Indian consumers and we are certain that the S7 will create its own benchmark. Gionee has been setting high standards in various aspects and believes in giving the consumers better than the best. Having sold over 4 million devices in India our smartphones are a manifest of our in-depth R&D, design expertise and manufacturing ability. 2015 Gionee will be expanding its India wing to imitate the manufacturing here in India and we believe this will add a sensational dimension to our profile,” said Arvind R. Vohra, Country CEO & MD at Gionee India.

The Gionee Elife S7 features a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top (and even the back of the device). MediaTek’s MT6752 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz is powering on this handset, and 2GB of RAM is also included in this package. 16GB of internal storage ships with this device and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Gionee’s Amigo 3.0 OS on top of it. 13-megapixel camera (Sony IMX214) is located on the back of this device, and an 8-megapixel snapper is available up front. This is a dual-SIM smartphone which offers 4G LTE connectivity and comes with 2,750mAh built-in. This handset measures 139.8 — 67.4 — 5.5mm and weighs 126 grams. The Elife S7 also includes a Hi-Fi level headphone and offers improved sound quality with Hi-Fi sound system. There you have it folks, the Gionee Elife S7 has been officially released. This is not the only piece of Gionee news we’ll report on here. On a separate note, the company intends to launch the Elife E8 in June as well. Gionee’s president William Lu actually said so during the company’s press conference in India this weekend. The company’s E-series of smartphones actually focuses on camera performance, and the company will probably equip this thing with a 20-megapixel camera with OIS included as well. Gionee did not reveal any additional details about this handset though, we’ll just have to wait and see what will they bring to the table.
