For a while now, rumors and speculation has been rife about what Huawei were planning to launch this year. It was largely understood and speculated that Huawei would be launching their latest smartphone in the form of the Huawei P8. Well, the speculation and rumors came to an end today as Huawei have now finished their event which took place in London. As to be expected the event saw the unveiling of the Huawei P8. However, in addition to the P8, Huawei also launched a secondary variant which is going under the ‘Huawei P8max’ tag. This was another device which was speculated upon prior to its release, although it has now been announced with most of its details confirmed.
In terms of what is on offer, the Huawei P8max comes loaded with a 6.8 inch FHD display. However, in spite of its large screen real estate, the P8max will not be a thick device, with the stated device coming in at 6.88mm in thickness. The other notable selling points of the P8max (compared to the standard P8) are the camera abilities and extended power life. In terms of cameras, the P8max comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera which offers a “professional-grade Image Signal Processor” along with dual-tone flash. This in conjunction with the 5-megapixel front facing option on offer. While in terms of the extended battery life, the P8max comes loaded with a large 4,360 mAh battery which is stated to offer up to 15 hours of video playback and more than sixty hours of audio playback. The more traditional specs are the same as the standard P8, touting 3GB RAM and an octa-core processor. Additional notable features include dual-SIM support as well as 4G LTE support, with a maximum of 300 Mbps download speeds and running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
In terms of cost. The Huawei P8max is going to be released in two different variants which in turn determine the price. The lesser of the two units (standard version) will be priced at €549. While the “premium version” will come in with a €649 price tag. Huawei has also noted that the P8max will be available in more than thirty countries although specifics on which countries or availability dates were not provided.
