Lenovo has announced quite a few devices this year already. The company has showcased a number of devices during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. Lenovo is nowhere near done launching devices it seems. The company will soon announce a new mid-ranger, the Lenovo A5000. This device was spotted back in February and is now confirmed. This is yet another Lenovo-branded mid-ranger and it resembles the previously launched devices, it is made out of plastic and will be available in India soon. That being said, let’s check out what it has to offer, shall we.
The Lenovo A5000 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6582 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with Mali 400 GPU for graphics. This is a dual-SIM (mini + micro) handset which will ship with a 4,000mAh battery (which will allegedly provide 35 hours of talk time and 33.5 days standby) which should provide more than enough juice during your day. The 8-megapixel snapper is located on the back of this device and flanked by an LED flash. On the front side of the device you’ll find a 2-megapixel snapper. Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on this handset along with Lenovo’s Vibe 2.0 UI on top of Google’s operating system. This handset doesn’t offer 4G LTE connectivity, but 3G HSPA+ speeds are available. The Lenovo A5000 measures 140 x 71.4 x 9.98mm and weighs 160 grams.
The device will be available in India soon through the Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom. In case you’re interested in purchasing this handset it is available in Black and White color options in India for Rs. 10,250 ($162). This handset is actually quite similar to the Lenovo A6000 device which launched back in January, but is powered by a different SoC (MediaTek instead of a Snapdragon), has a significantly bigger battery on the inside and doesn’t support 4G LTE unlike the A6000. One could argue that Lenovo went a bit too far with the pricing on this handset, but it seems like a solid mid-ranger. We’ll see how will it fare in the extremely competitive Indian market.
