As April has now arrived, the onward Android 5.0 (Lollipop) march continues, with those devices not lucky enough to receive their update earlier, starting to see it finally arrive. Samsung is one of the companies who might not have been quick getting off of the mark in first releasing their Lollipop update. However, they are certainly in full swing now with a number of regional and carrier variant devices seeing the update being pushed out on an almost daily basis. It has already been reported this morning that the Galaxy Note 4 in Brazil, India, UAE and the Baltic countries are beginning to see their update land.
Well, a bit closer to home, it seems Sprint’s Galaxy S5 Sport is next on the list to see its Lollipop update arriving. For those who have not encountered the Galaxy S5 Sport yet, this is essentially a Galaxy S5 Active, although it is Sprint’s version. As such, those who are currently using a Galaxy S5 Sport can rest assured that their update does now look to be finally en route, officially. Of course, those S5 Sport owners have had to wait for their update. The standard Sprint Galaxy S5 was reported to be receiving its update back at the start of February. Not to mention, the standard Galaxy S5 Active has also been noted receiving its update already as well.
In terms of the update, the official announcement from Sprint (source link below) simply states the update is beginning today and goes by the version number G860PVPU1BOC5. Other than the standard Lollipop features, the announcement does state Samsung’s “reactivation lock” is included in the update. This feature adds another depth of security to prevent unauthorised factory resetting with user’s needing to input their Samsung identity details prior to resetting. Either way though, if you own the Galaxy S5 Sport, it should be pointed out that these are staged rollouts. As such, there is no guarantee that you will see the update land today. In fact, it could actually take a few days before reaching your particular device. You can read details of your update by clicking the source link below.
