LG has been continually releasing teasers for its upcoming LG G4. Which they are expected to announce on Tuesday in New York City, and we will be there for that one. There was a huge leak of the LG G4 a few weeks ago, which pretty much confirmed every detail of the LG G4. So we know that it has a leather back, as well as the regular polycarbonate backs. LG has released a press release today, informing us of the manufacturing process of the leather back for the LG G4. It takes about 12 weeks. LG says that they use only the highest quality cow leather on the LG G4, LG also says that their leather backs are much better than the competition. Which mostly consists of just Motorola right now, with the Moto X (2014). According to LG:
“The LG G4 leather back cover takes a manufacturing process of a total of 12 weeks. Quality to make the final product from the supply of good leather back cover, competition among the core process takes time even more than 10 times the normal rear cover of the production period (4 days). LG Electronics has added a lot of handmade work here. Working directly for sewing leather stitching, and a coating material so that the rim all unravel need a lot of hand by hand, such as paint.”
So this pretty much confirms that LG is using real leather and not pleather or plastic that’s designed to look like leather. Which is going to make some people even more excited for the LG G4. But it also shows us why the price of the LG G4 is slightly more than the Galaxy S6, but still less than the Galaxy S6 Edge.
On Tuesday, at 11am, LG will be unveiling the LG G4 in New York City, as well as in 6 other cities including Paris, Seoul, Istanbul and a few others. The LG G4 has been confirmed to go on sale in South Korea that same day, while its global launch is set for a bit later in May. We’ll be there to see what LG has in store for us, even though we know most of it already from the massive leak earlier this month.
