Top Android Homescreen April 5th Edition: Blue Red

It’s time for yet another homescreen design for you guys and girls to check out. Normally we grab our picks from mycolorscreen.com as there’s a wealth of choices there every single week, but this time we went straight to the source and grabbed the latest and greatest from the creator, David Lopez Pitoko. This week’s homescreen is called Blue Red and as the name suggests, it paints a tapestry of blue and red accent colors on your homescreen.

Despite it’s somewhat minimalist feel compared to past designs, it manages to add some Lollipop style with the floating action buttons for various things, like the pause play for the music control, and a hamburger menu button we can only assume is used to open up the app drawer. Just like with all of the designs we pick, we’ll tell you how to set things up by informing you of the apps you’ll need to recreate the design, then give you the basics of what to do.

For starters, you’ll need a third-party home launcher, Nova Launcher Prime is the recommendation with this design. Instead of Zooper Widgets Pro this time around, you’ll need an app called Kustom Live Wallpaper, which is what will help you apply the interactive design to the homescreen using the ‘Blue Red’ design app from David Pitoko. You’ll also need two apps for the news if you want the news data to show up, and for this design the ones used were feedly and Simple RSS, both free. Lastly you’ll need to download the Blue Red design, we’ll link to that at the bottom along with the video showing Blue Red in action so you can decide whether or not you like the way it looks. To set things up, go into Nova settings and set your desktop grid, and configure it to either 6 x 6 or 8 x 8, whichever you feel looks best. Make sure you enable the wallpaper scrolling effect, and then once you have everything else that’s listed above installed on your device, open KLWP and select the Blue Red design and then hit the save button. That’s all there is to it. We hope you all had a great weekend and as always, happy theming!!!
