Oppo Launch the Joy Plus in India
Oppo is quickly becoming a name in the Indian smartphone market and we all know that to do that you need to offer a variety of different phone sizes and price points. Oppo is launching the small Joy Plus this week, coming in at 4-inches (800 x 480) with a dual-core MediaTek CPU and Android 4.4 KitKat. This is not an amazing phone by any standards, but it costs just RS 6,990 and features a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera. This is a budget offering, and while it’s not that cheap, it is from a decent brand people are beginning to trust.
Samsung Galaxy J1 Launches on Optus Australia
The Galaxy J1 is a budget offering from Samsung, designed to offer a Galaxy smartphone to first-time buyers or those on a skimp budget. It’s a 4-inch 800 x 480 affair and the quad-core CPU and cameras leave a lot to be desired. However, launching in Australia at just $169 AUD off-contract from Optus it quickly makes sense. After all, it’s something that first-time smartphone buyers and those looking for an interim device might like. For more information, check out Optus’s site.
Lenovo Launch the A5000 in Russia
Lenovo is no stranger to launching devices in Russia, and this new A-series device is a decent purchase at RUB 12,000. It’s a 5-inch HD device with a quad-core MediaTek CPU, Android 4.4 KitKat, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera along with 8GB of expandable storage. It’s a decent device thanks to its massive 4,000 mAh battery which should last a long, long time. That’s a larger battery than the one inside the Galaxy Note 4!
