Similar to the case review from yesterday we have another case today from Pelican ProGear. This time around the case is a little less clunky since it’s part of Pelican’s Protector series, so it’s essentially a dual-layered case with a protective tough back for the outside and a softer rubberized material for the inside of the case to keep from scratching the glass and the metal. It also helps for the shock absorption if it happens to be dropped. If you want something that protects but doesn’t take up as much space as something like the Voyager series, the Protector just might fit the bill.
Since it’s a Pelican ProGear, it’s rated for meeting military specifications so it can withstand the drops and dings without issue. There is also enough of a lip on the front edge of the case to protect the screen of the Galaxy S6 should it fall down flat on its face. If you don’t like a lot of extra bulk on your cases then the Protector is great, especially if you’re like me and tend to keep your phone in your pocket. This keeps it from making your pockets feel too tight and packed like some other cases, yet it’s still strong enough to withstand everyday damage as it protects from drops thanks to the military grade outer backing, from shocks due to the TPR rubber lining on the inside for absorbing shock damage, and lastly the case features angled edges to deflect and divert energy, which is the lip I mentioned above that helps to protect the screen from scratches.
I found that the phone was easy to grip with the case on and it didn’t seem to mess with the WiFi signal or any other radios during use. Just like with the Voyager case, the buttons were also easy to press so accessing volume and the power buttons were simple without having to use too much effort. This is an issue with some tough cases meant to protect phones from damage, but the Protector does a great job at keeping the phone looking nice and new while keeping it usable. Using the phone’s ports is also doable with the case on so you should never have to take it off as there are port holes for the speaker, mic, the charging port and the 3.5mm audio port up top.
