When it comes to mobile phone carriers, Freedom Pop may be one of the most underrated and little-known offerings simply due to the fact that they’re nowhere near the size or scale of the big national wireless providers. For the uninitiated, Freedom Pop brings truly free wireless phone service to customers simply because they’re mantra is that wireless service is a right and not a privilege. They don’t offer unlimited everything for free, no, but they do offer up the basic amount of service at no cost so it works out perfectly for those who need only a little amount when away from WiFi, and in the near future they’re bringing their free services to the UK.
The basic starter plan for free will come with 200 of everything across the board, which includes a set of 200 voice minutes, 200 messages, and 200MB of data. That isn’t exactly a lot, but that’s the basis of these plans is that customers get a small amount of access to the cellular network at literally no cost each month. Freedom Pop also offers other plans as well, but they haven’t yet divulged the details of their UK pricing plans so for the time being, “free” is the focal point here. Freedom Pop doesn’t offer up any information on when exactly they’ll be accepting customers, but they do mention a rough time frame of sometime this Summer.
In addition to coming to the UK, Freedom Pop states that they’ll be expanding to other areas with no roaming fees so presumably, they’ll end up having available plans which allow users in the UK and other expanded areas to get a certain amount of roaming data at no charge when traveling. There are no specific details on devices just yet, so there is no guarantee that UK customers will be able to sign up with any device they own. However, given the open nature of devices in the UK and other parts of Europe, there is a possibility that customers will be able to sign up for Freedom Pop under the BYOD standard, unfortunately there no exact details on device compatibility at this time.
