As you all know by now, Samsung has released their new Galaxy S6 flagships back in March during MWC. The company has announced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets, which differ from their previous offerings a whole lot. These are the first Samsung-branded smartphones to offer metal unibody build. This is also the first time the company has announced two flagship devices at the same time. The two devices are already available for purchase in a number of markets all around the world, but we’re not here to talk about them though.
Samsung has a habit of releasing a number of variations of their flagship handsets, like the ‘S Active’ series. It was just a matter of time before leaks start touting the release of this handset. Two days ago, an image surfaced reportedly showing off the Galaxy S6 Active, and back in March, the alleged specifications of this device have leaked as well. Well, a new leak surfaced, showing off the AT&T variant of the Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G890A), and it’s quite possible that this will be an AT&T exclusive in the US. These seem to be the official renders of the device, and you get to see both the Black and Dark Blue variant of the device here, just check out the gallery down below.
The source also claims that the device will pack a rather big 3,500mAh battery on the inside, which is almost a 1,000mAh bigger than the one in the Galaxy S6. This handset will be water-resistant, dustproof and shock-resistant, if previous variants are any indication, of course. It will also feature a water-resistant earphone jack, which can come in handy. This device will sport the same specifications as the Galaxy S6, at least according to the currently available info. The Galaxy S6 Active will feature a 5.1-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED panel, 3GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel OIS camera on the back. Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC will power on this device. You can also expect Android Lollipop to come pre-installed on this device with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI installed on top of Google’s OS.
