BLU Products may not be a brand that pops into your head the moment someone mentions smartphone makers, but they’ve had some success selling their affordable products in the US. Their target audience are users that don’t like to be tied up to a contract or would like to switch to different companies more often than not, so these devices are sold unlocked and intended for prepaid kind of plans. The company has been doing so since 2009 and they sell their devices in over 40 countries with a wide range of products to satisfy the different kind of needs consumers may have.

Starting today the Studio X and Studio X Plus will be updated to Android Lollipop as promised and let’s remember these devices use stock Android, so you’ll have the OS experience that Google intended with the new design language called Material Design. The only difference of this two devices is the size of the screen measuring 5 inches on the Studio X and 5.5 inches in the Studio X Plus, both sporting an HD resolution. They also include some metallic elements surrounding the frame of the device to give them a little more of a premium feel. The tech specs include a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor along with 1 GB of RAM. They also feature an 8 MP main camera and a 2 MP one in the front and if you run out of the 8 GB of internal memory, there’s a Micro SD card slot to expand their memory up to another 64 GB.

The company also announced when will some of their other devices will start getting the update, but let’s keep in mind that not all of the products get updated at the same time. The Studio G, Star 4.5 and the Studio 6.0 HD will be getting the update soon, as they mention the release for it in the current month. The 2015 version of the Life One, the Life One XL, Vivo Air, Life 8 XL and the Studio Energy with its huge 5,000 mAh battery will get the update in the month of July. Yet, one Reddit user claims to have received the update in his Studio Energy, so you might want to check regularly in case it gets released a little earlier.
