HTC has been having issues turning a profit for quite some time now, the company had to cut costs last year and re-organize their business. This Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer has actually released quite a few smartphones this year, and a number of them were high-end. HTC has unveiled their 2015 flagship, the One M9, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona back in March. That handset was followed by the announcement of One M9+ and One E9+ handset, which are exclusive to Asia. And finally the third-gen HTC Butterfly (SD 810) was also announced quite recently.
The company has announced a lot of smartphones, and some additional devices were rumored, but what about tablets? Well, truth be told, the Nexus 9 was announced in the fourth quarter of last year, but that’s technically a Google device even though it was manufactured by HTC. This Taiwan-based smartphone OEM has released three Android-powered tablets in their history, not counting the Nexus 9. HTC Flyer, Jetstream and EVO View were announced quite a long time ago, and an HTC-branded tablet long overdue at this point.
Well, it seems like such a device might land soon, at least according to Zauba, India’s public import-export database. The HTC H7 tablet has popped up in a listing, and according to Zauba, that device will sport a 7-inch display along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Two SIM card slots will also be available, and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor will power it on (quite probably a Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core SoC). This thing almost certainly won’t offer cellular connectivity considering that the listed price for this tablet is $150, which is really affordable.
Unfortunately, we don’t have more info at this moment, but it seems like HTC is planning to release a mid-range tablet soon. By the looks of it, at least one of the markets it will ship to will be India. The HTC H7 will be the fourth tablet released by this Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, not counting the Nexus 9. There you have it folks, we’ll report back as soon as we get some additional info, stay tuned for that.
