Huawei Mate 8 Is Supposedly Leaked In Photographs

Huawei has been making some interesting devices in recently, they launched their P8 flagship smartphone lineup last month consisting of 3 different models, the P8 Lite with a 5-inch screen, the Huawei P8 with a Full HD 5.2-screen and the P8 Max, reaching tablet territory with a huge 6.8-inch screen. All of these devices feature great build quality, being built out of metal, and cameras that seem very capable. The fact that they were announced in London seems to be an indicator that the company wants to be well-known around the globe. Let’s not forget the Huawei Watch that was announced during the MWC surprising everyone with its good looks and the premium material build as evidenced by sapphire covering the round screen. While all of these devices seem to cost a little more than past devices and some of the competition from Chinese manufacturers, they also seem to bring better quality.

One of the most successful devices of the company is last year’s Ascend Mate 7, a phablet with a 6-inch Full HD screen in a slim metal body that integrated features like a fingerprint sensor and a huge battery. The company is surely working on a successor to be announced later this year with some sources mentioning its launch as soon as next month. A new report contains some images that supposedly depict this device that is known as Huawei Mate 8, which will probably be the official name since the company is removing the word Ascend from its devices in order to simplify the whole name.

From the photographs, the metallic unibody can be noticed and the near bezel-less screen can also be appreciated as well as a big speaker in the back of the device, keeping the design familiar, so perhaps the biggest changes will be on some other areas and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The rumored specs include a similarly sized screen with a QHD resolution this time around and, since the company is focusing on the cameras, they might end up using a 20.7 megapixel Sony sensor on this phablet. The processor is supposed to be an octa-core Kirin 930, it will support Cat. 6 LTE networks and the fingerprint sensor, which is not seen in the pictures will most likely make a return.
