Since the start of this year, Jide Technologies have been making the headlines routinely within the android world. Back in January, at CES, the company unveiled their tablet, the Jide Remix, otherwise known as the ‘Ultra Tablet’. Although, the company was presenting the tablet at CES, at the time, there was no clear indications of when (or if) the tablet would come to market. However, by March, the Jide Remix had made its way to Kickstarter and seeking funding.
In terms of the actual tablet, the Jide Remix seems to have taken a few design cues from Microsoft’s Surface offering and as such, has been thought of as an android-running, Surface-inspired tablet. One of the Surface inspiring aspects is the inclusion of a magnetic keyboard which can be attached to the device. Not to mention, the Remix Tablet has much more of a focus on multi-window use than other android tablets. Spec wise, the Jide Remix comes with an 11.6-inch IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, the Jide Remix comes equipped with 2GB RAM and powered by a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor (clocking at 1.8 GHz). In terms of memory, the Jide Remix offers 64GB internal storage, while, on the camera front, the device is equipped with 5-megapixel cameras on both the front and back of the device. Interestingly, the device runs in its own forked version of Android, Remix OS, which is based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Which incidentally, the company is currently in the process of making available to other devices. Back in April, Jide announced owners of the Nexus 9 and 10 could sign up to be one of the first to receive a flashable version of Remix OS.
Anyway, the Remix did seem to enjoy a successful Kickstarter campaign once it launched and now seems to have moved on the next stage as the Jide Remix has now made it to Amazon and is available to buy. The Amazon listing is now live, lists the Remix as in stock and will set you back $399. Which does includes the keyboard as well as the tablet.
