The Lenovo Smart Cast is a concept smartphone which sports a built-in laser projector. Sounds interesting? Well, it is. This laser projector also sports an infrared motion detector, and a high-performance algorithms in order to offer virtual projection to the user (which sets it apart from pico-projectors). Lenovo truly things that this is the future, and that this technology will actually catch on. So, if we put aside all the fancy talk, what can this thing do? Well, you can actually project a virtual touschreen using this laser projector, and you can do it on basically any surface you want to. It’s also rather easy to rotate the projector, and if you’d like a huge touch keyboard on your desk, well, nothing stops you from projecting it using this thing. This could also be quite useful when it comes to gaming, presentations, etc. The Lenovo Smart Cast also comes in with a built-in kickstand, which is neat.

That being said, Lenovo didn’t share any details when it comes to specifications, release date or pricing of this smartphone… which is not that odd considering that this is a concept device, keep that in mind. The company did, however, manage to peak people’s interest by showcasing this thing. The company did, however, release a promo video for you to check out, it is embedded below this article, There are also a couple of official renders available in the gallery down below which will give you a better look at the device. We’ll report back as soon as Lenovo releases some extra info when it comes to this thing, one thing is for sure though, this handset seems very interesting and it will be interesting to see how will consumers react to it.
