Over the last few months, Microsoft have been completely changing their business model. This is, especially in relation to their software options. In fact, the last few months have seen the Microsoft suite of apps become far more widely available for android devices and owners. This began back in November of last year when the company announced they were beginning a beta testing program for android devices and Microsoft Office offerings which includes the likes of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. However, at the time the preview was primarily restricted to use on android tablets.
By January, the first indications began to emerge that the platform was adapting and as such, came the reports that Microsoft had begin dropping the preview version of the program, which essentially meant that users were not able to download Word, Excel and PowerPoint on their android device without subscribing to the program. In short, grab the apps openly from the Play Store. That said, this was still only available to android users on their tablets.
Well, the latest coming in is that it now seems the next stage of the Microsoft Office based apps and android devices evolution is moving forward. it now seems that Word, Excel and PowerPoint have been updated to allow for use with android smartphones as well as tablets. With the apps now becoming available with smartphones, it is likely more smartphone based optimization and features will become available in due course. If you are interested in downloading any of the apps for your smartphone, then it is worth noting that the apps have reverted to a preview status. As such, you will have to sign-up to join the beta community and once you have gained access, you will be able to download the apps from the Play Store. Of course, similar to the preview for tablets (and preview access in general) you should be aware that there is typically a delay between joining the group and receiving access to the live Play Store links. So do not worry if it takes some time to become active for you. In the meantime, to find out more or join the beta group by clicking the source link below.
