Android TV is here, in a limited availability format, but it is here. Not to mention, at the end of next week the world will probably know a lot more about the platform following Google’s I/O event. In fact, that is not the only Android TV news that has been circulating this month. One of the announced devices which is due to be released with Android IV is the Nvidia Shield. The device comes with 16 GB internal storage and also comes with much more of a gaming focus, compared to the Nexus Player.
Well, in terms of the Nvidia Shield, the last few weeks have seen the news increasingly rising. This is because the device is imminently due for release. Consumers who have been waiting on the device are literally waiting for the general availability to become live so that they can grab theirs. However, over the last few weeks, rumors have started to circulate around a much bigger and consumer-friendly version of the device. This is the 500 GB version of the Nvidia Shield. Compared to the standard 16 GB version, a 500 GB is a massive increase and one which will be welcomed by many.
Either way and in spite of what very much seemed to be a semi-confirmation of the 500 GB model, consumers are still left waiting for the normal version to become available to buy. It was thought that they will be available by the end of the month and as far as the information is known, this does still look to be the case. To add to this last point, it now does seem that Nvidia is gearing up and preparing for the release of the unit. Reports are now emerging that those who signed up for the newsletter and to stay informed on the product, are starting to receive emails detailing that the release is approaching. Interestingly, the emails also state that Nvidia will be giving away a free Nvidia Shield every day until the device does launch. With one being offered every day, it seems fair to assume the launch cannot be too far away. Unfortunately, if you haven’t already signed up for the newsletter it seems unlikely that you will be able to get in on the one-a-day contest. However, at least you can rest assured the Nvidia Shield is almost here.
