Brand partnerships have long been “a thing” and Samsung have partnered with Marvel, which allows the smartphone giant to use their branding across their products, and in turn allows Marvel to use the Galaxy devices in movies and promotional material. Obviously, there’s a lot of money involved here, but when you think about it it makes a lot of sense for everyone involved. Samsung devices in the Avengers’ hands makes the story that much more accessible to fans and well, an Iron Man themed Galaxy S6 is just cool. That’s what fans will be able to do now, as officially licensed Avengers merchandise for the Galaxy S6 has gone on sale.
Our friends at MobileFun have a range of cases as well as wireless charging pad styled like Captain America’s shield up for sale. Sadly, none of the items are cheap, with each case costing £34.99 and the Shield wireless charging pad costing £44.99. Depending on where you order from, you could be paying much more than this, and that’s pretty disappointing. However, officially licensed good are always fairly expensive, and we’re sure that Samsung and marvel aren’t exactly looking to buck that trend. Hopefully, MobileFun isn’t the only place to stock them in the future, but as of writing they’re the only stockist.
While expensive, these might be just what a die-hard Avengers fan was looking for. With word that Samsung is to create a limited edition Iron Man edition of the Galaxy S6, it seems like Samsung is keen to make the most of their partnership with Marvel, and we can’t blame them. The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge have proven popular devices for Samsung, and the Avengers is killing it in theaters right now, making the two things a match made in marketing heaven. Whether or not these accessories will sell well is something we’ll have to wait on, but with Avengers merchandise so popular right now, we wouldn’t be surprised if they would.
