Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus may be getting ready for the launch of their next generation flagship, but the first generation device still has a few rough edges that need some sorting out. While most device owners have been happy with the overall performance of the smartphone, there have been multiple complaints about the touchscreen on the OnePlus One, which haven’t been taken care of by either OnePlus or by Cyanogen Inc. There have been multiple promises of solutions with so-called fixes being rolled out on multiple occasions, only to have an emerging set of issues crop up and a new set of promises by OnePlus, but all of that have mostly failed to tackle the issue satisfactorily for most users facing the problems.
However, there seems to be light at the end of that long and winding tunnel for the harried OnePlus users after all. While past disappointments would have taught OnePlus owners to curb their enthusiasm about the current firmware revision, a lot of users on OnePlus’ official forum and on Reddit’s OnePlus threads have been effusive in their praise for the current update for finally solving the issues they were facing with the phone’s touchscreen. It’s about time, one might be tempted to say, but going by OnePlus’ track record for over a year of trying to tackle this issue without much success, it will take a while before sceptics will actually believe that the problems are finally dead and buried.
As for the current update, you need to be on CyanogenMod 12.1 or CyanogenMod 12 nightlies to get this update right away. For those who are not on the bleeding edge of firmware revisions, CyanogenMod will release a stable 5.0.2 (CM 12) build that includes the aforementioned changes so that users don’t have to wait for a stable 12.1 to get them. Those who are affected by the touchscreen issues on Oxygen OS either need to wait longer for OnePlus to provide a definitive timeframe for the rollout of the update or manually flash the Cyanogen firmware, as there is no clear word on when there will be a fix released by OnePlus for Oxygen OS users.
