Siswoo is yet another China-based company that you might not have heard of, but they’re going to release a rather interesting device soon. We’ve talked about the company’s R9 Darkmoon handset quite recently, when its specifications leaked. Well, not the company has listed the device on their official webpage along with a full set of specs and a ‘coming soon’ sign. We’ll talk more about the specs in a second, but let’s talk about the device itself first. What’s so special about this handset? Well, it’s actually quite similar to the YotaPhone that you might have heard of, the device which features two displays. The R9 Darkmoon actually sports something very similar to that, it has a ‘normal’ display on the front, and an E Ink panel on the back.
The Siswoo R9 Darkmoon features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080, 401 ppi) IPS OGS display on the front, and a 4.7-inch E Ink 960 x 540 panel on the back. This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage are also included here, and the phone will ship with a 3,000mAh battery with Qi Wireless Charging supported out of the box. The 13-megapixel camera (+LED flash) is located on the back of this handset, and an 8-megapixel shooter is available on its front side. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with some additions by Siswoo, of course. The R9 Darkmoon will also offer support for 4G LTE connectivity, the following bands are supported: FDD-LTE B3/B7/B20 ; TDD-LTE B38/B39/B40.
This thing offers higher-end specs than the latest YotaPhone offering, but we still don’t know how much will it cost once the company releases it. The device is listed as ‘coming soon’, so Siswoo will hopefully announce it in the coming weeks. Speaking of which, this handset comes with three capacitive buttons below the display: menu, home and back button, respectively. Its general design is nothing flashy, but the second screen itself makes it look really odd, as soon as you flip it over. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.
