A while back, Micromax has opened a new company called YU. This India-based company has partnered up with Cyanogen and released the YU Yureka mid-range handset back in January. This device was extremely affordable at launch, especially considering the really solid mid-range specifications that were built into it. The device was sporting a 5.5-inch 720p display, 2GB of RAM and was powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, not to mention that Cyanogen’s Android-based operating system was shipping with the device. That being said, YU has been teasing the announcement of their second device, the Yuphoria, for quite some time now. The company has actually held an event in India today and unveiled the device, let’s see what it has to offer, shall we.
The YU Yuphoria comes sporting a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display with full lamination technology which is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. This handset ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while it is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor by Qualcomm. The 8-megapixel camera is available on the back of this handset with LED flash being located around it (round shape), while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper located on the front side of this handset. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with the Cyanogen OS 12 installed on top of Google’s operating system. The 2,230mAh battery is included on the inside, and you also get the ‘Quick Charge 1.0’ tech here.
The YU Yuphoria is made out of metal, unlike the Yureka, which is made out of plastic. The device weight 143 grams and will be available in Buffed Steel and Champagne color options. This handset is made in India, and YU has made that really clear during their event, the company is very proud of that fact. This is also a dual SIM handset which offers 4G LTE connectivity and it also has Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo DCA audio enhancement on the inside, for those of you who appreciate good sound quality while heaving headphones on.
