With smartwatches not quite capturing the imagination of mainstream consumers the way smartphones have, quite a few well-known Chinese manufacturers like Lenovo, Xiaomi, Gionee, Coolpad etc. have stayed away from the device category thus far. Although that might not remain the case for too long, it is a fact that most of the manufacturers without the deep pockets of Samsung, Sony and LG are still only weighing their options and adopting a wait and watch policy before jumping in headlong. But not so with Zeaplus – a company, which is most likely to have never been heard of by most people even in its home country of China. The company has now come out with a new smartwatch named the Zeaplus Watch DM360 – a device which looks suspiciously like the Moto 360 smartwatch from Motorola. While the Moto 360 came with a price-tag of $250 at launch, Zeaplus is only asking for $99 from international buyers for this little device. The company is also offering a two-year limited warranty on the watch.
According to the listing on the company’s official website, the device features a round 1.22 inches TFT touchscreen panel with a resolution of 240 — 240 pixels, and the housing is made from stainless steel. The watch has a heart-rate monitor, a pedometer and a sleep monitor built into it. The device is powered by a MediaTek MTK2502A processor and has 32 MB of RAM and 128 MB of storage. While the hardware specifications are not exactly jaw-dropping, the company touts compatibility with both Android and iOS and the device comes with Bluetooth 4.0 to sync with smartphones running the aforementioned mobile operating systems. The device comes with an IP67 certification rendering it waterproof and dustproof to a certain degree. The timepiece sports a calfskin leather strap out of the box, but there’s no word if there will be any amount of personalization options offered with the device eventually. The battery is rated at 320 mAh, which, the company claims will be good enough for two full days of usage and one whole week on standby. The device runs on the Zeaplus Watch OS with support for multiple languages including, but not limited to English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and French.
