Motorola Updates 2013 DROID Lineup
DROID owners of the 2013 variety got an update across the Mini, MAXX and Ultra this past week or so. Wait, you weren’t actually expecting an update to Lollipop were you? Well, sadly, Verizon has only deemed these devices worth bug fixes, as the one line from the updates reads “Bug fixes and stability improvements”. Those with a DROID MAXX or ULTRA can find the update info here, and those with a DROID Mini here.
T-Mobile Bring Lollipop to the Xperia Z3
While Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 owners outside of the US have been enjoying Lollipop for quite some time now, those on T-Mobile have had to wait a little longer. Still, the update is finally here and brings with it a software version of 23.1.C.0.385 and comes in at over 600MB in size. This is a big update that brings a lot of Material Design with it, all be it with Sony’s own take on things. Having said that, this is one of the less corrupt versions of Lollipop available on devices these days.
US Cellular Brings Android 5.1 to Second-Gen Moto X and Moto E
Okay, so you’re a US Cellular user on a fairly recent Motorola device. Well, you’re in luck as both the second-generation Moto X and the Moto E LTE are getting Android 5.1 updates. That’s a whole .1 better than Android 5.0! All joking aside, this should bring yet more polish to your device as well as some performance updates as well. Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Get Minor Updates on Big Red
Have you ever wanted to draw on photos? Do you own a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge and happen to be on Verizon? If yes to both, then this has been your lucky week! Verizon is rolling out updates to both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge right about now that bring with it all sorts of changes and bug fixes. Sony Takes Lollipop Up North for Xperia Z and Xperia ZL Owners
If you happen to be up in the Great North and a Sony user, then you’ll be pleased to know that the original Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL are getting their updates to Android 5.0.2 as per a Tweet a little while ago.
ASUS Updates ZenFone 4, 5 and 6 to Android Lollipop
The ZenFone 2 and the ZenFone Selfie might be the new hotness for ASUS right now, but they haven’t totally forgotten about the first ZenFone line of products. Users of the ZenFone 4, 5 and 6 are getting their updates to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop right about now, and if you want to download the update and find out more (including specific model numbers to match things up) then you can do so here for the ZenFone 4, here for the 5 and here for the 6.
Galaxy Tab S 10.5 on US Cellular Sees Lollipop Update
Much like 2014 was the year of the KitKat Update, so too is 2015 the year of Lollipop. US Cellular is keeping things moving with a tablet update this week to the Galaxy Tab S 10.5. This Lollipop update shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to Samsung owners that have other devices, as there’s not much new here compared to the likes of the Galaxy S5 and so on. T-Mobile and Spring Nexus 6 Users See Updates
The rabbit hole that is Nexus 6 updates goes deeper this week, as users on Sprint and T-Mobile see updates. Still, things aren’t too difficult to deal with, as the T-Mobile Nexus 6 crew gets updated to Android 5.1.1 build LYZ28E which brings with it everything from Android 5.1.1 as well as WiFi Calling on T-Mo’s network. Those on Sprint have recently seen Android 5.1.1 LYZ28E, and both are downloadable from Google’s master Factory Image list.
NVIDIA’s SHIELD Tablet Gets Android 5.1
The SHIELD Tablet is once again proving how good NVIDIA really can be when it comes to updates this week, as they bless it – and the LTE version – with Android 5.1 Lollipop. NVIDIA lists the usual Android 5.1 updates here, and considering the SHIELD basically runs stock Android there’s not much else besides those features, but there is a new firmware for the controller as well.
