Last week, LG Canada made the official announcement that the new LG G4 would make its Canadian debut on June 19, but no pricing was yet available. The list price was seen by way of a contest held by LG – $699.99, but we can now confirm that the LG G4 will cost $199.99 on a two-year contract at Rogers, although Bell and TELUS will likely follow Rogers’ lead and keep that pricing too. Vid©otron, and WIND Mobile may have s different pricing scheme and we will let you know as soon as we hear anything. While the LG G4 has many different color options – both in the ceramic-coated plastic back and in the genuine leather backing – Canadians will only have two options. It will sell the LG G4 in either the “Metallic Grey” plastic version or the “Black” genuine leather variant – but even better is the fact that you will receive BOTH backs with your purchase…use the plastic one for everyday tasks and use the leather for ‘dress up’ nights out on the town.
The LG G4 is a welcomed evolution from the LG G3 and was improved in all of the right places. LG started with a much-improved display, sporting a 5.5-inch QHD LCD with their new Quantum display technology. LG claims this allows for a 25-percent brighter display with a 50-percent increase in the contrast and 56-percent improvement in the color accuracy…and you can really see the upgrades in its 538 pixels-per-inch (PPI) display. In a surprise move, after using the Snapdragon 810 octa-core in their new LG G Flex 2, they chose to go with the 64-bit Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, but they worked with Qualcomm to optimize it for the LG G4 and it gives excellent performance and should offer the user a stable working environment. They added 3GB of RAM and 32BG of internal storage, expandable by a microSD card.
LG took an already great camera and made it even better in the LG G4 with a 16MP main sensor, a wide f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, OIS and a dual-tone LED flash, along with some terrific software. While they were at it they threw in an 8MP front-facing camera (FFC) that also includes the f/1.8 aperture for great social media selfies or video chatting. Powering the LG G4 is a removable 3000mAh battery that should easily get you through a full day of usage.
