Canadian Galaxy S6 Buyers: Free 6 Month Google Play Music

As reported earlier this month, an ad-supported version of Google Play Music was made available to the US customers, but not in Canada.  However, if you live in Canada and are in the market for the new Samsung Galaxy S6, then you are in luck – Samsung and Google have teamed up to offer a six-month FREE subscription to the popular Google Play Music.  Not ready to spend that much money on a Galaxy S6…not to worry, if you purchase any other Samsung smartphone you will get a three-month free subscription.  Not a bad deal and a great way to check out Google Play Music to see if you might be interested in tapping into the library of over 30 million songs, curated radio stations and playlists and the ability to sync up to 50,000 tracks of your own music to the service as well.  If you decide to keep the service, it will cost you $9.99 per month for unlimited access.

Samsung Canada also announced that it would be going out to music festivals across Canada to promote and give demos of Google Play Music…as well as push their smartphones.  No specific concerts were mentioned, but look for them if you attend any concerts and let others know that may be interested.  If you love music and enjoy designing your favorite playlists, then the $9.99 a month for unlimited access is quite a bargain and allows you to download and take your music and playlists with you on your mobile device without an internet connection.

Music streaming has become big business and will only grow more that Apple has thrown their hat into the ring with their new Apple Music announced at WWDC in San Francisco at the beginning of June.  Then there are others out there, Spotify and Pandora, to name a couple of well-known streaming services.  The ad-supported version of Google Play Music will certainly be making its way to other countries, Canada included, after all as Google says, “We hope you’ll enjoy it so much that you’ll consider subscribing to Google Play Music to play without ads, take your music offline, create your own playlists, and listen to any of the 30 million songs in our library on any device and as much as you’d like. You’ll also get ad-free, offline and background features for music videos on YouTube. And with or without a subscription, you can store and play up to 50,000 songs from your own collection for free.”
