Although Google’s annual developer conference kicked off last week, not everything that Google has in the pipeline was on display. For instance, for those who are more interested in Chromebooks than anything else, there was not much on offer, news-wise that is. Well, for those who already own a Chromebook and especially for those on the stable channel then it looks like an update is on its way to your device.
This update will see your stable channel Chromebook making its way up to Chrome 43. For those who want to know the exact build then it is 43.0.2357.81. Along with the update, there will be a number of new features on offer. The most notable is the inclusion of the autofill settings for credit card data. Anyone who is already on the developer or beta channels on their Chromebook, will have already seen this feature being added in their last update and will know how beneficial it is. In short, it makes the filling in of financial transaction details extremely quick. Once they are added to Google Wallet and once you begin to filling them in on any Chrome browser, Chrome will prompt you for just the CVV number and if confirmed will auto-fill the rest for you. The use of the CVV number means that even those who are using your terminal will not be able to automatically use the autofill details.
The other added benefits with these update largely consist of improvements to the keyboards (both virtual and physical) including a more material design based look for the virtual keyboard along with a much-improved auto-correction tool for the physical keyboard. For owners, of the new Chromebook Pixel, the update also does bring a more cohesive OK Google launch feature across the entirety of the device. In short, offering the ability to active the OK Google feature from anywhere on the device while it is in an unlocked mode. The update is already in the process of rolling out and as such, the chances are that you probably have already seen it land.
