When it comes to smart, connected devices it seems the new thing is to produce cameras that can easily relay footage to your device or send it off to the world wide web. GoPro have been producing devices like this that can connect to a smartphone or tablet for some time now, but for some that doesn’t seem enough, and companies like Xiaomi have introduced connected devices that are affordable, and offer users all the features they need. Now, UK network EE is offering users the complete package, including 4G connectivity.
Announced earlier today, the 4GEE Action Cam is a connected camera that features a 13-megapixel sensor that will take 4:3 ratio still shots as well as Full HD, 1080p video at 60fps. Battery wise, the camera can record around five hours’ worth of Full HD footage. This is a complete solution from EE, as they also offer a watch that doubles as a viewfinder, and aside of WiFi b/g/n connectivity the 4GEE Action Cam will connect directly to EE’s 4G network. This allows you to broadcast live on skeegle, a platform to securely broadcast events to friends and family. There’s also an app available for both iOS and Android platforms, the Action Cam app, which allows for management of photos, video and more. As for how rugged this guy is, it features a fully waterproof casing that is good down to about 60 meters. The camera itself will support up to 64GB of storage using microSD cards.
This all won’t come cheap however, as £299.99 outright will get you the camera and 2GB of data for 30 days, where £399.99 gets you 24GB of data for 12 months. Of course, you can purchase it on contract, as with anything on EE and if you’re on a shared plan you can pay £15 a month for two years with nothing upfront. The same is true for single users, however it’ll be £20 with 10GB of 4GEE double-speed LTE with nothing upfront for existing customers or £49.99 upfront for new customers.
There’s a range of accessories available for the 4GEE Action Cam as well, including the aforementioned waterproof casing as well as bike and head mounts as well. It’ll be available starting June 16th this year for the aforementioned pricing.
