It’s no secret that people actually care about the design of their smartphones as well as the materials used in their construction. While there are some options made out of plastic that feel sturdy, sometimes they feel hollow and they just don’t compare to the solidity that metal brings to those devices. Still, there are some users that don’t settle for what the rest of us consider premium and there are some companies that build smartphones with very expensive and luxurious materials. One of those companies is Gresso, founded in Switzerland and since 1999 they have been making phones combining luxury materials with a very precise craftsmanship and high engineering technology.
Now, the company is finally releasing the Gresso Regal Gold Collection which is a very limited edition, only 999 pieces will be made. The goal was to make it look like a solid bar of gold, which is why they chose such a minimal design with angular edges. The hardware is made with titanium Grade 5 making it light but resistant and it is covered by a golden layer using PVD to prevent scratches. 18K Yellow gold was used in the front logo and to accent the serial number in the back. Engineering efforts can also be seen as it is only 8.8 mm thick considering the materials used are enhanced for durability and the texture from the back cover is achieved by polishing manually so then the smartphones can be assembled by hand.
Obviously, the most relevant aspects of the phone are its good looks and its premium feel, but its tech specs, while they are far from being most current ones out there, they are not that bad in terms of luxury smartphones. It features a 5-inch Full HD display and a quad-core processor at 1.5 GHz with 2 GB of RAM. 32 GB of memory should store your files or photos taken with the 13-megapixel autofocus camera on the back or the 5-megapixel front facing shooter. Sadly, the phone doesn’t support LTE networks, but if you’re interested in purchasing one, they have been available from the 1st of June and their price is $6000.
