Hands On With The Meizu MX5

Meizu, one of China’s more popular handset manufacturers finally announced their next generation smartphone and the upcoming brand new flagship device, the Meizu MX5. The announcement came during their recent event to unveil the device, and we were able to attend the event to get some hands-on time with the phone prior to its official launch. As with their older last device, the MX5 features a metal body finish for a striking design all around, but it packs in some great hardware specs too. One of the big attention grabbers will be the fingerprint sensor on the device which has been packed into their mTouch home button, making it capable of completing mobile payments as well as utilizing another layer of security for unlocking the phone. Meizu has also been known to use some decent cameras, and the same is true with the MX5 which comes equipped with a 20.7MP rear facing camera that uses a Sony IMX230 sensor with an f/2.3 aperture.

Processor wise the Meizu MX5 is powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 CPU, and it’s running Android Lollipop with the touch of Meizu’s Flyme OS, specifically Flyme 4.5. It’s also packing 3GB of RAM, and comes in three storage size options of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. The screen weighs in at a sizeable yet easy to handle 5.5-inches and sports a 1080p resolution using a SuperAMOLED panel, and when it comes to the battery it packs a 3150mAh cell which Meizu states can be charged up to 50% in only 30 minutes time thanks to the mCharge function. This is shaping up to be Meizu’s best phone yet. Check out the gallery below for a look at the device.
