On April 15th, Huawei held an event in London for which they unveiled their latest P range device in the form of the Huawei Ascend P8. Along with the main device, Huawei also unveiled the larger Huawei P8 Max and the more affordably positioned Huawei P8 Lite. While, there are subtle differences between the three devices, Huawei looked to be offering an option for each level of the market. In terms of the latter of the three, the Huawei P8 Lite, Huawei has today announced that the P8 Lite is now coming to North America. In fact, Huawei has now confirmed that the Huawei P8 Lite is now available to purchase unlocked and will cost $249.99.
Being a Lite version, the P8 Lite is designed to be the most affordable of the three devices, however, the P8 Lite is not so light when it comes to the specs of the device. The P8 Lite is equipped with a 5-inch display that offers a 1280 x 720 resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Moving to the internal specs and the P8 Lite is equipped with 2GB RAM while the device is being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz. If you are more interested in camera features, then the P8 Lite offers great value for money as it is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing which comes with additional features including All Focus and Ultra Snapshot. The first, All Focus, allows the user to change the focal point of saved images while Ultra Snapshot offers the ability to access the camera quickly and even when the device is in sleep mode. Moving to the memory aspects and the P8 Lite comes equipped with 16GB of internal storage and also does include a microSD card slot for additional storage. As to be expected, the P8 Lite also comes with the staple features like 802.11 WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. While the device is powered by a 2,200mAh battery and comes running out of the box on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) along with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 and support for 4G LTE.
Of course, along with the $249.99 price tag, the other benefit of the P8 Lite is that it is being offered to consumers as an unlocked device and as such will be free to use with your current network provider. If you are interested in picking up the P8 Lite, Huawei have confirmed that the device is now available and can be purchased from retailers including Amazon, B&H (both in store and online), Fry’s Electronics (also both in-store and online) and Target, among others. Not to mention, you can also pick the P8 Lite up directly from Huawei via their own GetHuawei.com shopping channel. Huawei has also lastly announced that the P8 Lite will be coming to Best Buy online and in select stores soon.
