IFTTT Recipes Come To The Amazon Echo

Amazon Echo and IFTTT, one a service and the other a piece of hardware. Both have become very popular among users, especially tech-savvy ones. But now these two great things have come together as one because today the Amazon Echo now officially supports IFTTT recipes. These means that users will now be capable of doing some pretty neat things using just their voice.

IFTTT is a powerful app that allows users to create custom actions between apps and services. These custom actions are called “recipes” and users can create as many as they want and easily share them among other users. A good example of a recipe that could be set up is that every time you post a photo on Instagram it will also automatically be posted to Twitter. Or maybe if you like a video on YouTube then have it automatically shared on Tumblr. It’s recipes such as these that really make IFTTT a powerful app for simplifying users lives.

Now, with IFTTT officially compatible with Amazon Echo, users will be able to activate recipes using voice commands. On IFTTT’s website they give some good examples of recipes to use for Alexa, the name of the Amazon Echo voice assistant. These include things like, ‘tweet the songs that you’re listening to on Echo,’ or ‘add your new Alexa To Dos to Todoist.’ The apps that the IFTTT team says go especially well with recipes for the Echo are iOS Reminders, Gmail, iOS notifications, OneNote, Phone, and Evernote.

If you own an Amazon Echo and are a fan of IFTTT then you should definitely give the two a try together. Starting today, there will be 121 different IFTTT Channels that you will be able to connect to using Echo. These are apps and services on devices that IFTTT allows users access to when creating recipes. If you aren’t necessarily the create type, but would love to try out IFTTT on your Amazon Echo, don’t worry! You don’t have to create your own recipes, there is a ton on the IFTTT website, which you can find by clicking the source link below.
