Latest OnePlus Rumors Reconfirm Two Devices En Route

While many Chinese manufacturers are currently in the process of releasing their latest flagship devices, a lot of consumers outside of the Chinese domestic market will be most looking forward to seeing what OnePlus can bring to the table this year. Their current flagship device, the OnePlus One is one of the most popular smartphones available and comes boasting decent specs and at a very affordable price. Therefore, if the company can repeat the level of specs and level of pricing, then there is every chance they will also repeat the level of success they endured over the last year.

As such, when it comes to the OnePlus 2, the specs and the price will certainly define the device. While very little details are still known about the OnePlus 2, Giz China are stating that they have heard from sources that the OnePlus 2 specs are going to fall in line with what has been previously noted. This includes 3GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The report also details that a 16-megapixel camera will be offered on the rear and this will be coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing option. Interestingly, Giz China also adds to the confirmation that the highly rumored second OnePlus device will also be launched. It is still not clear if this second device will be called the OnePlus Lite or not, but the rumored specs on offer include 2GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. In terms of cameras, the second OnePlus device is expected to come with 8-megapixel front and rear cameras.

Although, it seems strange that the company who found it so difficult to manufacture one device to a sufficient level of demand, are releasing two, it does seem clear that they are touting these as the high-end and lower-end options. As a result, there is nothing majorly wrong with the specs. On paper, the OnePlus 2 does seem only minimal in terms of its upgrade from the One and therefore, whether it is worth upgrading to, will depend on what else OnePlus can cram in there, like the rumored fingerprint scanner. Of course, as the specs are pretty much in line with expectations, it does seem that the price of the device is the last major hurdle which OnePlus need to overcome. It is now largely expected this will come in at a higher price than the One did and with the One seeing a recent price drop, it could be argued OnePlus are clearing the shelves and paving the way for the OnePlus 2…and maybe even the Lite.
