LG has unveiled their G4 flagship back in April. This handset is very similar to the G3 in terms of general design, but LG did spice things up when it comes to the G4. The LG G4 is slightly curved, not nearly as much as the G Flex or G Flex 2, but it sports a subtle curve which is noticeable when holding the device. The device also comes in a number of different back cover options, leather, ceramic and plastic are available. Other than that, this handset is very similar to the G3 in terms of the design, the rear-facing physical buttons are still here and everything.
Anyhow, let’s talk a bit about updates for these two handsets. LG has recently stated that there are currently no plans to update the G3 to Android 5.1 Lollipop, which started all kinds of rumors that the Android M update is going to arrive on the G3 instead of the 5.1 Lollipop. Well, we do have some news regarding Android 5.1.1 update for the LG G4 this time around. LG UK and LG Hellas have both made is very clear that there are still no plans to update the G4 to the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The details were not provided, but this could mean that the company is working on Android M update already, and will skip any additional Lollipop updates for their high-end offerings. This is just a guess, of course, but it sure seems like it.
The LG G4 features a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS LCD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor, and it ships with a removable 3,000mAh battery. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of LG’s new flagship, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found on its front side. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this thing with LG’s Optimus UX 4.0 UI laid on top of it. The LG G4 measures 148.9 x 76.1 x 9.8mm, while it weighs 155 grams. There you have it, we’ll let you know if LG provides any additional info in the future, but it seems like the company is skipping further Lollipop updates and will jump straight to Android M.
